volunteer
The library can always use volunteers. Some volunteers opt to shelve books while others prefer to work the counter. Some come in once a month, some a few times per week and yet others volunteer for summer reading program or other specific programs.
Clearances
All volunteers at the library must have their clearances. As a volunteer, the following clearances are free. The first clearance, the PA Child Abuse History clearance can be obtained through the Pennsylvania Child Welfare Information Solution website. The second, the Pennsylvania State Police Criminal background check can also be filled out online through the Pennsylvania Access To Criminal History website.
The final clearance to work with children is the FBI Criminal History process which includes fingerprinting, for which you can register here. There is a cost for this, even for volunteers. Alternatively, if you have lived in Pennsylvania for at least 10 years, you can fill out an affidavit in place of the FBI Criminal History check.
Copies of these clearances must be on file at the library before you can volunteer with us.
